Getting From Edison Into Manhattan
Edison is roughly thirty miles from Midtown, which on a quiet Sunday is about forty-five minutes and on a Tuesday morning is closer to seventy-five. Almost the entire difference is the Turnpike and the tunnel approach. Edison's own roads are rarely the problem.
That spread is why the departure time matters more here than the pickup address does. A car leaving at six in the morning and a car leaving at eight are making genuinely different trips, and we plan against the hour you will actually be on the road rather than an average.
We work across the whole township — the Route 1 corridor, Oak Tree Road, Menlo Park, Clara Barton, and the residential neighbourhoods either side.
A Corridor, Not a Town
Edison is less a single origin than a stretch of corridor. A pickup near Metropark and a pickup off Route 27 are different trips in practice, and the corporate offices along Route 1 sit closer to the highway than most of the residential streets do.
The township also generates a particular kind of trip. A great deal of our Edison work is corporate travel into Midtown and the Financial District, and family occasions heading into the city for the evening — which are almost opposite requirements in terms of timing and vehicle.
Airport connections from Edison go in three directions, and which airport is realistic depends heavily on your flight time. We will price more than one if it helps.
Which crossing, and what it costs
Edison trips run north on the New Jersey Turnpike and cross through the Lincoln Tunnel for Midtown or the Holland Tunnel for downtown. Hudson crossings are tolled eastbound only, at $16.79 with E-ZPass at peak and $14.79 off peak — peak meaning weekdays six to ten in the morning and four to eight in the evening, and weekends eleven to nine. Should You Take the Train Instead?
Metropark is a genuinely fast station. NJ Transit and Amtrak both stop there, and a weekday morning train into New York Penn Station will usually beat driving. If you live near Metropark, are travelling alone, and your Manhattan destination is near Penn, the train is the sensible choice and we will say so.
A car makes sense when you are not near the station, when you are travelling as a group, when you have luggage, when your destination is away from Penn Station, when you are coming home late, or when the trip is one where arriving in a particular way matters — a client meeting, a wedding, a medical appointment.

Midtown
The most common Edison destination, north on the Turnpike and through the Lincoln Tunnel.
Financial District
Usually the Holland Tunnel, and frequently quicker from Edison than Midtown despite being further south.
Hudson Yards
The easiest Manhattan arrival from the New Jersey side.
Upper East and West Sides
Add crosstown time after the tunnel; the river crossing is not the slow part.
JFK and LaGuardia

Often routed via Staten Island and the Verrazzano rather than through Manhattan.
Choosing a Vehicle
An executive sedan handles most Edison trips and is the standard choice for corporate travel into the city. Families and anyone with checked luggage should book a full-size SUV, particularly for airport connections where the bag count is the real constraint. Groups of seven or more need a Sprinter van — on a trip of this length the difference between one vehicle and three is easily half an hour at the far end.

Getting into Manhattan is rarely the problem. Getting out at eleven at night, in weather, when everyone else is trying to do the same thing, is where evenings go wrong. Book both legs together and it is already handled.
The rate is fixed when you book.
You approve a flat rate in advance. It does not move because traffic was heavy or because you booked on a busy night. Tolls and parking are added at cost, itemised rather than buried.
A reserved car is assigned, not matched.
Your vehicle exists before you need it. It does not depend on how many drivers happen to be nearby, and it does not reprice itself at the moment you are standing outside.

Often yes, if you are travelling alone at rush hour to somewhere near Penn Station. A car is the better choice with luggage, with a group, for destinations away from Penn, for late returns, and when the arrival matters.
Can you collect me in Manhattan for the ride home?
Yes, and booking both legs together is the sensible way to do it. The return from Manhattan into Edison late at night is the leg people most often leave unarranged.
