Queens is the largest borough by area and the most varied, which makes it the one where a single travel-time estimate is least useful. Long Island City sits directly across the river from Midtown and is minutes away. Eastern Queens is a different proposition entirely, and can take three times as long to reach.
It also contains both JFK and LaGuardia, which shapes traffic across the whole borough. The Van Wyck, the Grand Central Parkway and the BQE all carry airport volume on top of local traffic, and all three are congestion-prone in ways that have little to do with where you personally are trying to go.

That fact matters more for timing than people expect. If you are travelling from Queens to either JFK or LaGuardia you are usually looking at a short run, which is a genuine advantage over almost anywhere else in the region.
The reverse is also true: if you are arriving into either airport and heading somewhere in Queens, you are often at your destination before a Manhattan-bound passenger has cleared the airport roadways.

Reaching Manhattan From Queens
There are several ways across and they suit different parts of the borough. The Queens-Midtown Tunnel serves Midtown from the Queens Boulevard corridor. The Queensboro Bridge is free and lands on the East Side in the high 50s. The RFK Triborough connects northern Queens to Upper Manhattan and the Bronx.

How long does it take from Queens to Manhattan?
It varies more than in any other borough, because Queens is so large. Long Island City is minutes from Midtown. Flushing or eastern Queens can take three times as long. We quote against your actual address rather than the borough.
