Getting From Morristown Into Manhattan
Morristown is roughly thirty miles from Midtown, but the route crosses several commuter corridors rather than following one, which makes it less predictable than the distance suggests. I-287 and I-78 both carry heavy volume and an incident on either has limited workaround.
The practical consequence is a wider range than most origins: forty-five minutes on a clear Sunday, and comfortably over an hour on a weekday morning. We plan against the hour rather than the average.

Corporate Morris County, and an Airport Next Door
Morris County has a dense corporate presence, and much of our work here is business travel into Midtown and the Financial District, or clients being collected and driven rather than left to arrange their own transport.

Which crossing, and what it costs
Morristown trips usually run via I-287 and Route 24 or I-78 to the Turnpike, then the Lincoln Tunnel for Midtown. The George Washington Bridge is sometimes the better option for Upper Manhattan and the Bronx. Hudson crossings are tolled eastbound only, at $16.79 with E-ZPass at peak and $14.79 off peak — peak being weekdays six to ten in the morning and four to eight in the evening, and weekends eleven to nine. Should You Take the Train Instead?
Midtown Direct runs from Morristown into New York Penn Station without a change. It takes longer than the same service from Short Hills because the distance is greater, but for a weekday solo trip into Midtown it is still frequently the better option, and we will say so.
Book a car when you are travelling outside the schedule, when you have luggage, when you are in a group, when your destination is not near Penn Station, when you are collecting a client, or when you are coming home late — which in Morris County is when the service is thinnest.
